They Answered the Call. Now They Need Us.
Israel's longest war has also wreaked financial and personal havoc in the lives of the brave reserve soldiers who have served many hundreds of days deployed.
Hillel’s Story
Hillel K., 41, from a village in Israel’s Gaza envelope, was called to reserve duty on October 7. He works in agriculture, and that day his home, crops, and livelihood were destroyed.
Single and self-supported, Hillel served over 200 days in five deployments in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. About a month ago, he was shot in the head while serving in Syria and has since been hospitalized at Rambam Hospital.
With no income during his service, Hillel has accumulated $63,000 in debt. Due to government policy, he is not eligible for state financial assistance.
Hillel is one of thousands of reserve soldiers serving extended deployments—sometimes 500 days or more—who have lost their income and are struggling to survive financially.
The administration of the funds is supervised by a board of commissioned IDF officers and your gift will make a meaningful change this Hanukkah in the family lives of Israel’s defenders.
