Creating Spaces that Support IDF
Soldiers During Extended Service

IDF soldiers protect the State of Israel and its citizens by land, sea, and air. Their service is demanding and continuous, often involving long training cycles, extended stays on base, and deployment to border areas across the country.

American Friends of LIBI works in coordination with the IDF and the Israeli Ministry of Defense to fund construction projects that support soldiers during their service. These projects provide places for rest, physical training, medical care, gathering, and daily life, relieving the intensity of routine and improving the conditions under which soldiers live and serve.

Clubhouses for IDF
Combat Units

Through the Association for Israel’s Soldiers, LIBI USA supports the construction of clubhouses that give combat soldiers a place to step out of operational routine and regroup. Located on bases and border posts where soldiers spend weeks at a time, these spaces allow them to sit, rest, charge their phones, watch something familiar, share a coffee, or talk with one another outside training and guard duty.

Sports and Fitness

Infrastructure

LIBI USA supports the construction of sports infrastructure designed according to IDF combat fitness requirements. These facilities allow soldiers to maintain fitness and relieve physical stress during extended periods on base. Outdoor facilities include obstacle courses, training areas, exercise equipment, and sports courts that can be adapted for rotating forces at border outposts. Indoor facilities on training bases and permanent headquarters include gyms, spinning rooms, Krav Maga halls, and multi-purpose sports centers.

Multi-purpose
Spaces

With hundreds of soldiers and commanders on base each day, dedicated gathering spaces are an essential part of base life. LIBI USA supports the construction of multi-purpose halls, entrance areas, control rooms, offices, family gathering rooms, and restrooms. These structures allow bases to host cultural programs, educational activities, briefings, and group events.

Medica
l
Infrastructure

Medical care must be accessible at all times, in routine conditions and during emergencies. LIBI USA supports the construction and upgrade of infirmaries on military posts. These facilities provide medical services for soldiers and, in emergencies, civilians. Infirmaries may include doctors’ rooms, service facilities, pharmacies, and optional physiotherapy and dental clinics, supporting the IDF Medical Corps’ ability to respond quickly on base and during national emergencies.

Synagogues

LIBI USA supports the construction of synagogues on IDF bases under the supervision of the IDF Rabbinate. These spaces form the center of religious life on base, where soldiers gather daily for prayer, Torah learning, and communal observance.
