Wounded Soldiers and PTSD Support
Supporting the Recovery and Well-being of IDF Soldiers Wounded in Combat and Coping with Trauma
Hundreds of IDF soldiers return from combat with injuries that alter the course of their lives. Some face long hospital stays and physical rehabilitation. Others carry the lasting weight of trauma and war-related stress that affects daily functioning, family life, and the ability to return to service or civilian routines.
Working in coordination with the IDF and the Israeli Ministry of Defense, American Friends of LIBI supports rehabilitation environments, trauma treatment, and direct assistance that address the recovery needs of wounded soldiers and those living with PTSD.

Emergency Support for Wounded Soldiers and Their Families
When a soldier is seriously injured, families rush to the hospital, and daily life comes to a halt. Travel costs, meals, lost income, and basic expenses continue to accumulate. LIBI USA’s support enables emergency vouchers to be given to families of wounded soldiers within 24 hours of hospital admission.
Healing and Rehabilitation Retreats
Many wounded soldiers leave the hospital only to begin a long and demanding recovery journey. LIBI USA supports healing retreats that give wounded soldiers and their families the chance to step away from medical settings and focus on recovery together. In a calm and supportive environment, participants take part in emotional processing, guided group conversations, creative activities, and adapted physical movement.
Trauma and War Stress Treatment
War leaves lasting marks that are not always visible. In close coordination with the IDF Mental Health Division, LIBI USA supports treatment for soldiers experiencing trauma and war-related stress. Soldiers can receive treatment during their service or after returning to civilian life, ensuring that psychological injury is addressed with the same seriousness as physical wounds.
Recovery and Rehabilitation Spaces
LIBI USA funds the construction and renewal of pop-up clinics and recreation and educational spaces that support wounded soldiers throughout extended rehabilitation periods. These environments on bases and recovery sites provide places for rest, learning, connection, and daily routine.
Continued Assistance During Long-Term Recovery
In cases of ongoing hardship, LIBI USA funds additional assistance grants to injured soldiers and vulnerable families. This support helps cover essential living expenses while rehabilitation continues, reducing the burden during months of recovery and adjustment.
