Where do you send a soldier who’s determined to serve in the IDF, but has faced difficulties in his or her life that prevent a successful integration into the military? At Michve Alon, an IDF training base specializing in educational programs, there’s a special program for soldiers who need a little extra help adapting to military life.

Soldiers in the Sa’ar Company go through a five-week basic training program with commanders who are trained to be more attentive to the emotional issues that their soldiers are facing. Soldiers who go to Sa’ar Company are often dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, or issues at home, but they want to serve in the IDF.
